Leading Indian actor Irfan Khan has passed away at the age of 53. According to Indian media, Irfan Khan had been suffering from cancer since 2018. He was rushed to hospital yesterday with an infection in the colon where he could not recover.

Irfan Khan, 54, had gone to London for treatment for a neuro-endocrine tumor. He returned to Mumbai last year after completing his treatment.

According to the BBC, Irfan's health often deteriorated even during the shooting of his film 'English Medium'. In such cases, the entire unit had to stop shooting several times. When Irfan felt better, the shot was taken.

Recently, Irfan Khan's mother Saeeda Begum passed away in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He could not attend his mother's funeral due to a nationwide lockdown. He reportedly attended his mother's last rites via video call.

In 2018, when Irfan found out that he was suffering from this disease, Irfan Khan himself told his fans about it.
